I woke up, started it successfully and played around with it some more. C:\bootrec.exe /fixmbr PC said I had had a crash and did I want to attempt a normal boot or attempt repair. This time the process found and fixed a whole bunch of files.
The command prompt module displays this at the beginning of each line X:\Sources> So should the command be: X:\Sources>chkdsk (space) /f (space)

If it does give a listing then continue in diskpart looking for which partition is set as Active.
