Had to power off the VM, then power on. But the main thing is that it's running and I can now at least build new VMs, so I can work around it, but ideally, one vSphere window would be nice. If I recall correctly, there's also another issue with HP host management utils that can trigger the MKS failure. Somehow the ESX host have lost the default gateway.
Telnet to the port - you're trying to connect to that port, not the standard telnet port.
