For me the Windows XP Mode seems to be working OK, but all of the other virtual machines that I create crash. I have tried fresh install of xp mode and it did not help. Many of them all I am trying to do is create an empty hard drive with some RAM and network access to test out live CD's for different CD based boot I have to back up and restore files from a usb flash drive.
