Look in Windows Task Manager - there is still a [project].vshost.exe running (and it can't be terminated) 5. When you start debugging (I'm assuming you're actually starting a debugging session with F5 (or from the menu) and not building the project), Visual Studio checks the version of the projectname.vshost.exe You may never need to restore this DEP-aware version of your IDE's hosting process (vshost32.exe), but it's nice to know you can. It is checked by default but is not actually required in most cases. Since it appears that we're trying to copy the file, it appears that both these conditions are true (unless there is a bug). It writes that same file back into that same path so it shouldn't be an security problem.
