chrisbel,Thank you for your kind words, and I'm glad everything worked out smoothly.I'm surprised there are organizations still using Windows 2000! https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/75a62871-953a-4a7f-b811-77a500dad197/v2v-disk-read-error?forum=virtualmachinemgrp2vv2v I do understand RAID5 benefits over RAID0 but I only have two physical disks to work with, the third drive is failing and using it would give unpredictable results. Now we need to attach the VM's disk to the Linux system: open a root shell / terminal. Support for Windows 2000 has been dropped in VMware Converter version 4.3.
What happened to you with the Raid5 rebuild is about par for Raid5. check my blog Re: A Disk Read Error Occurred. Virtual machine contains an IDE virtual disk does not detect after P2V conversion. Let it install VMware Tools, select "Reconfigure destination virtual machine" and do NOT select "Configure guest preferences for the virtual machine"If that does not solve your problem, read this thread. To test that the initial P2V worked, I installed VMWare Server 2 on the same machine with the standalone converter. March 10, 2012 at 1:58 AM Anonymous said... If you're asked to restart, restart then start the VMware Converter service manually before running the Converter again, otherwise it'll ask you to deploy the agent again.
